• Ranking These are the 10 best Spanish cities to travel with children

  • Summer The most spectacular water park in Europe: 5,700 square meters, 15 pools, eight slides...

This was going to be the summer of returning to normality.

To shelve the pandemic.

To make you the trip of your life.

And it can continue to be but you will see that you scratch your pocket more than usual.

Inflation has gotten into the suitcase.

According to an analysis by Rastreator, traveling

for a week in August

is this year 24% more expensive than the previous summer and 56% more than in 2020. The

culprits

have been making headlines for weeks: The increase in the cost of living due to the recent rise in the CPI and the war in Ukraine, according to the study's authors.

Both factors affect, of course, prices also when traveling, although it is clearly more appreciated in some destinations than in another.

The latest ranking of the online comparator places

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Seville

as the three cheapest cities in Spain to travel this summer

On this occasion, Santa Cruz de Tenerife has positioned itself as the cheapest destination on the list, with an average price of 888 euros, 39% cheaper than the national average (1,465 euros), followed by Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with an average price of 983 euros, and Seville, with 1,128 euros.

On the opposite side,

Cádiz (

1,931 euros),

Gijón

(1,987 euros) and

Palma de Mallorca

(2,382 euros) are among

the most expensive cities

, with prices up to 63% above the average.

The study carried out by Rastreator has taken into account the 15 most visited cities according to the INE and the price variation in the last two years.

The 'luxury' of car rental

As the comparator explains to El Mundo Viajes, renting a car in the destination this vacation will be one of the main

higher

expenses that we face.

In fact, the average price in Spain of renting a mid-range vehicle for a week in August costs an approximate average of 422 euros.

However, it very much depends on the holiday destination you choose.

Thus, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria tops the list of cheapest car rentals.

Closely followed by Santa Cruz de Tenerife and A Coruña, while Palma de Mallorca, Almería and Cádiz are positioned as the most expensive destinations.

The cost of the hotel

In relation to the cost of hotels, the study shows that the average cost for a stay of seven days and six nights in a three-star hotel the first week of August costs an average of 732 euros.

To spend less you have to go, again, to Santa de Cruz de Tenerife, the city with the cheapest accommodation.

The Canary Islands are followed by

Seville

and

Granada.

At the other end of the table,

Palma, Gijón

and, once again,

Cádiz

appear as the most expensive to spend the night.

El Albero Tavern, in Cadiz.

beer time

There is a chapter in which Cádiz stands out for being more affordable than anyone else.

This is the leisure and restoration.

In fact, the average cost of a dinner in the center of the beautiful Andalusian city is

25 euros

, 15% below the average.

If you also seek to have a beer and a coffee in a central neighborhood, the difference will be 42% and 38% less than the average.

However,

Barcelona

is once again positioning itself as the destination where dining (37 euros) and having a coffee (3.73 euros) in a central neighborhood costs 26% and 44% above the average.
