[Explanation] Hu Ping, 62, is a carpenter in Jilin City, Jilin Province.

Recently, a Qing Dynasty architectural model that he had built for more than ten years was finally completed.

The reporter recently saw in Hu Ping's studio that this "building" with a length of 2 meters, a width of 1.3 meters and a height of 1.65 meters is a tenon-and-mortise structure without using a single nail.

According to Hu Ping, it took him 11 years to complete this work. In order to check information, select materials, and observe the details of ancient buildings, he has "traveled all over the world".

My work is a model of a real ancient building, using the construction methods and rules of the Song Dynasty, and studying the ancient buildings of the Qing Dynasty by reducing the scale.

[Explanation] Hu Ping has been fond of painting and researching historical buildings since he was a child, and has also been exposed to woodcarving.

Because of his interest in ancient architecture, Hu Ping also consulted a well-known ancient architecture master from the former Jilin Woodcarving Factory.

In 1980, after he went to work in the Jilin City Woodcarving Factory, he kept books on ancient architecture on his desk, so that he could study at any time.

Later, Hu Ping ran a woodcarving factory and went to Guangzhou every year to participate in trade fairs. Some woodcarving products in the shape of small animals were exported to the United States and Europe.

At that time, Hu Ping also had the opportunity to visit ancient buildings in Beijing and Datong, Shanxi to get inspiration for production.

In the studio, Hu Ping gently stroked the old-fashioned model.

He told reporters that it was the largest model of an ancient building he had ever made.

Hu Ping believes that the most difficult part of this work is the bucket arch. Each bucket arch has 60 or 70 pieces of wood, which need to be interlocked.

The function of this bucket arch is not only to look good, but also to concentrate the weight of the eaves on the eaves pillars, in order to disperse the weight of the eaves and concentrate the weight on the pillars.

[Explanation] Hu Ping's pride lies in the high consistency between the model and the actual building, reflecting the style and characteristics of the Qing Dynasty architecture. He wanted to give it to his daughter as a family heirloom.
