The town hall of Nice claims an “innovative procedure, unique in France and simple for the user”.

It announces on Monday that it has implemented a dematerialization of civil status applications for declaration of birth, recognition and death.

Concretely, as with identity papers, citizens can now make pre-declarations for these other formalities by filling out the dedicated forms, from a smartphone or computer.

Supporting documents can also be attached in real time.

The finalization (still) in town hall

Received at the town hall, these documents allow civil status officers to draft the civil status act.

The declarant, informed by email, must then still go to the town hall or to an annex, after having chosen an appointment online, to finalize the signing of his act and withdraw the necessary copies, details the city.

But this dematerialization “makes it possible to simplify the procedures, to reduce the waiting time and to avoid sometimes numerous trips”, boasts the community.

All the more so since, “for several weeks and following the health crisis” she says, “the appointment times have increased considerably, sometimes reaching several months for certain municipalities in the Alpes-Maritimes”.
