Too many investigations, too much suspense and too much blood on France TV?

In a report, the Union of Directors and Directors denounces a much too high rate of detective fiction broadcast on France TV.

Last year, 85% of the fictions broadcast in the first and second part of the evening on the public service were detective fictions.

The Union of Directors and Directors has made its calculations and denounces, in a report, a far too high rate of detective fiction broadcast on France TV.

Last year, 85% of the fictions broadcast in the first and second part of the evening on the public service were detective fictions.

Well beyond the rates of other channels: 11% on TF1, 3% on Arte and only 1% on M6.

An “impoverished” cultural contribution

Why is this a problem for the union?

He spoke to Agence France Presse.

He calls for more "historical, societal or literary heritage-based" fiction.

According to its president, Laurent Jaoui, "the cultural contribution of the public service, which should be essential, has been extremely impoverished under the pretext of hearing".

He regrets that the thriller has even contaminated the other genres.

Non-detective fictions still end up with a murder in their plot.

He cites the

Speakerine

and

Philharmonia

series as examples.

And there would be an explanation for that.

"When we ask why focus on crime fiction, we are told: 'It's simple to do, cheaper and people always ask for it'".

Detective fictions are indeed always audience hits.
