Business people and tourists arriving in the USA by plane will no longer have to present a negative corona test.

The White House announced this relaxation of the corona rules on Twitter on Friday.

According to US media, the obligation to test should end this weekend.

The aviation industry, among others, had campaigned for their abolition.

Until now, all passengers had to present a negative corona test, which was not older than 24 hours, to their airline before departing for the USA.

The only exception to this was for people who had recovered from an infection within 90 days beforehand - and had proof of this.

The US government and the states had gradually relaxed the corona restrictions in the past few weeks.

However, the number of cases of infection has recently increased again.

Last month, the threshold of a total of one million Covid 19 deaths was exceeded in the United States.

Around 300 people across the country still die every day after being infected with the corona virus.
