For almost 30 years, Redline Recordings has conducted its operations in the studio in Norsborg, the terminus of the metro's red line on which the name is based.

The Latin Kings, Linda Pira and Stor are some of the artists who recorded music in studios, whose history stretches from the 90s to the present.

The cultural news was allowed to follow into the Redline studio one last time before the founders left it for good.

The brothers and founders of the record company, Masse and Salla Salazar, planned to renovate the premises in order to conduct cultural activities for young people.

But when Botkyrka municipality in the autumn investigated the possibilities, they came to the conclusion that a change was not possible, because the studio is located in a shelter.

The premises can therefore not be redone in any way, and must be able to be restored to a shelter within 48 hours.

Part of Swedish music history

Music journalist Ametist Azordegan believes that there are not many music studios that have been highly active for 30 years.

- The Redline studio has been important from many aspects.

On the one hand, it is a place that represents the phalanx of so-called suburban rap in Sweden, in that it is The Latin Kings who started their music creation in a proper way there, says music journalist Ametist Azordegan to Kulturnyheterna.

- They are the prototype for the so-called suburban rap.

It is a Swedish hip-hop hotspot that they wanted to preserve in one way or another.

Not the end for Redline

For a few years now, the brothers and founders Masse and Salla have had a new studio they work in, so when the old studio is now shut down for good, it is not the end of their business.

- Of course it can feel sad that this chapter is over, but it also feels a little nice, says Salla Salazar.

- We have moved on anyway, we moved to the new studio three years ago.

The sad thing is that this place - which we thought we would have here for young people, new songwriters and producers - will not exist.

But we may have to find a way to have it elsewhere.
