Guyancourt (Yvelines) embarks on the hunt for abandoned supermarket trolleys on public roads.

Faced with this recurring problem, the city has issued a permanent municipal decree which classifies these abandonments as illegal dumping.

The author now faces a fine of €135, reports

Le Parisien

.

This is a first in the department.

Other solutions sought

The municipality decided to put in place such a measure after “misuse”, “complaints from the citizens” and “visual pollution denounced by local residents”, she indicated.

But to verbalize, it will however be necessary to prove that the wild deposit was carried out by the person concerned, which is “infeasible”, deplores the city.

These fines are therefore only a first step in deterrence.

A working group bringing together residents, associations and elected officials will soon try to find other more lasting solutions against "very complicated incivilities to curb".
