Next month, in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Yamagata Shinkansen, a Shinkansen vehicle wrapped with illustrations of cherries, a specialty of Yamagata Prefecture, appeared and started operation on the 9th.

What was unveiled on the 9th is a Yamagata Shinkansen vehicle that wraps an illustration of a cute cherry and an illustration of the prefecture's tourism campaign character "Kitekero-kun".

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Yamagata Shinkansen on the 1st of next month, JR East and Yamagata Prefecture planned to further raise awareness as a production center for cherries.

At the platform of JR Yamagata Station, we saw passengers taking pictures to commemorate the event.

A passenger in his 40s who was visiting from Kanagawa prefecture for sightseeing said, "Yamagata is a cherry, so when I see this kind of Shinkansen, I feel like I've come to Yamagata."

Then, the Shinkansen departed for Tokyo before 11:00 am, and the prefecture staff and JR employees who gathered at the platform waved off.

Dai Kosuda of the Tourism Promotion Office of the JR East Sendai Branch said, "Because it is a wrapping of cherries, you can see it at a glance as the Yamagata Shinkansen. Please use it."

According to JR East, the wrapping Shinkansen is only one of these 7-car trains and will operate until around the end of November.
