To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Okinawa's return to the mainland, the Emperor and his wife saw a special exhibition at the Tokyo National Museum, which collects cultural assets related to the former Ryukyu Kingdom.

This special exhibition "Ryukyu" is held at the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno, Tokyo, sponsored by NHK and others, and is a culture that includes national treasures such as costumes worn by the former Ryukyu Kingdom royal family and ceramics that colored Shuri Castle. The goods are on display.

The Emperor and his wife arrived at the venue before 5 pm on the 9th, and the two of them held hands and watched carefully.

Among them, the curator said "Dragon" at the exhibition of the large Kanzashi around the 15th to 16th centuries, which is said to have been used by "Kikoe Ogimi", the highest rank of the women who are in charge of the festival in the Ryukyu Kingdom. "The pattern is carved," the Emperor confirmed, "Is this a dragon?" And was enthusiastically looking at it.

According to the curator, after seeing the exhibits, the Empress said, "It would have been very difficult to collect this much."

Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress also visited this special exhibition in May.

The special exhibition "Ryukyu" is open until the 26th of this month.
