Before the summer tourist season, repainting of a 460-meter-long bench in Shika Town, Ishikawa Prefecture was carried out for the first time in three years.

On the "Masuhogaura Beach" in Shika Town, a bench with a total length of 460 meters was set up in 1987 so that visitors to the beach could see the sunset over the Sea of Japan. It was also certified as a Guinness World Record.

The local tourist association has been repainting before the summer tourist season every year, but it was canceled last year due to the influence of the new corona.

This year's repainting was done for the first time in three years, and about 150 people including local elementary and junior high school students and people from the tourism association gathered.

Participants used a brush to paint ocher on the bench, which had not been repainted for two years and had faded.

A boy in the fifth grade of elementary school said, "The work of painting was difficult. I want many people to come."

In addition, a girl student in the third year of junior high school said, "The length is no longer the longest in the world, but I want it to be the most beautiful bench in the world."
