Irthi Council for Contemporary Crafts, affiliated to Namaa for the Advancement of Women, records a new achievement for contemporary Emirati crafts, as it participates in Milan Design Week 2022, the most important global event on the agenda of the world of art and design, which will continue until next Sunday, to present its collections of craft products. Contemporary art, in which the Council established a contemporary concept of Emirati craftsmanship derived from heritage among the finest brands in the world of design and fashion.

Irthi is preparing new and innovative collections at the event in two locations, the Campi Auction House and the Italian Lita Palace, as a culmination of the council’s efforts, which are represented in partnership and cooperation with the world’s most prestigious design houses, with which it works to develop the skills and capabilities of female craftswomen working under its umbrella, to present to the The fashion market has products that match international brands in their quality and aesthetics, inspired by Emirati life.

In the presence of Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah, and Director of “Namaa” Reem bin Karam, “My Heritage” launched his five new collections that celebrate the spirit of creativity mixed with the heritage of authentic crafts, and highlight the capabilities of the craftswomen of the Council.

Reem bin Karam said: "We are proud to represent the Emirate of Sharjah in the global event, in addition to being the only participating party from the Arab region, as the Council uses this platform to build bridges of dialogue, cooperation and partnership through traditional crafts, and the new collections that are presented in Milan are the product of civilized cooperation. To preserve the heritage and cultural fabric of the region.

She added: "The council continues its efforts to build a crafts system that supports innovation based on the harmonious combination of modernity and originality, to enrich traditional crafts, develop the skills of female craftswomen and support them to preserve their identity and heritage, access their products to international markets, and enhance their presence in the global arena."

The participation of "My Heritage" attracted hundreds of visitors from art lovers who flocked to the two exhibitions of the Council in "Milan Design" to get acquainted with the most prominent collections launched by the Council, which reflect the aesthetics of Emirati crafts that have been passed down through generations, and are distinguished by their modern character.
