Yesterday, Google announced the most visited landmarks through the Street View feature on Google Maps in the Middle East and North Africa.

The Street View feature provides an opportunity to discover different historical and cultural landmarks by taking 360-degree images that can be viewed on a mobile or computer screen.

The iconic Emirati landmark, the Burj Khalifa, topped the list, and Dubai recorded dominance among the top 10 places in the region, as the emirate's landmarks occupied four places.

Street View was launched on Google Maps for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa in 2013 in the UAE, helping the public around the world to discover the most important landmarks of the region.

The pyramids of Meroe are one of the latest projects.

The 10 most popular Street View places in the MENA region over the past year are:

1. Burj Khalifa, UAE.

2. The Kaaba, Saudi Arabia.

3. Pyramids of Giza, Egypt.

4. The Grand Mosque, Saudi Arabia.

5. The Great Pyramid, Egypt.

6. The Prophet's Mosque, Saudi Arabia.

7. Burj Al Arab, UAE.

8. Sphinx, Egypt.

9. The Dubai Fountain, UAE.

10. Dubai International Airport, UAE.
