A terrifying accident in Pakistan... an overcrowded bus falls into a deep valley

In a terrifying accident, a speeding bus plunged into a narrow mountain road in a remote valley in southwestern Pakistan on Wednesday, killing 22 passengers, including women and children, a government official confirmed to The Associated Press.

Deputy Director of Qalaat Saifullah district of Balochistan province, Muhammad Qasim, where the accident occurred, said rescuers were still trying to take the bodies to a nearby hospital, adding that there seemed to be no survivors.

The cause of the disaster was not immediately known, but the authorities said that the weather was good at the time of the accident, noting that the police were looking into possible mechanical problems or human error, as witnesses said that the bus appeared to be speeding when the driver lost control of it and fell into the valley.

Pakistani President Arif Alvi and other government officials expressed their regret over the tragic accident and ordered the authorities to make the necessary arrangements for the bodies of the passengers to be delivered to their families.
