A first Bordeaux case of monkey pox, also called monkeypox, was confirmed at the Bordeaux University Hospital this Wednesday, June 8, the establishment announced in a press release.

"The state of health of the patient, a man in his thirties, does not inspire concern," he explains.

He remains for the moment in an isolated room at the CHU, under medical supervision.

This case was the subject of a declaration to the regional health agency (ARS) of New Aquitaine.

Any contact cases of the patient are followed up by the agency.

To date, the health authorities have identified 66 cases of monkey pox in France.
