It rained for a few days and I took a breather, but this spring was exceptionally dry. If you look at the actual weather observations, this was the hottest spring in the past 50 years, and in particular, the precipitation in May was recorded as the lowest ever.

This is a report by Seo Dong-gyun, a reporter.

Although the temperature dropped slightly due to the rain during the holidays, it is already summer in the city.

The body has adapted to the rising temperature since spring.

[Kim Dong-young / Paju-si, Gyeonggi: I am worried how hot it will be in summer if it is already this hot.]

In the analysis of the Korea Meteorological Administration, it was recorded as the hottest spring since observation began in 1973.

It was 1.3 degrees higher than normal.

In particular, March and April, when high temperatures were observed, were severe.

It was analyzed that the sunny weather continued as the mobile high pressure passed frequently, resulting in the second longest daylight hours on record, and the temperature rose as a warm south wind blew.

The low pressure that would have rained was pushed away, and it rained only 17.9 days in the three months of spring.

In particular, the precipitation in May was 5.8 mm, or 6% of the normal year, recording the lowest level ever recorded.

[Lim Gyo-sun / Director of Climate Change Monitoring Division, Korea Meteorological Administration: In May, the dry air from the upper layers moved south to Korea and was mainly affected by mobile high pressure…

.]

It rained all over the country during the holidays, but it did not sufficiently wet the parched land.

[Kim Il-sun / Seosan-si, Chungcheongnam-do: To do these three fields, all of them have to come more than 40mm.

But it came first (not long after)...

.

It doesn't even solve the dust.]

However, this summer is expected to rain similarly to normal, so the drought is not expected to continue.
