To celebrate her 70 years of reign, Queen Elizabeth II could count on her great-grandchildren to put on a show.

While little Louis delights internet users with his grimaces at several ceremonies, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor celebrated her first birthday on Saturday June 4.

For the occasion, his parents, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle unveiled two photos of their youngest daughter taken during this birthday party, organized in complete privacy with some of their relatives, at Frogmore Cottage, where the couple lived before leaving the UK to settle in California.

The first snap was posted by family friend and photographer Misan Harriman, who also served as a photographer at their wedding.

We see Lilibet, smiling, wearing a headband and wearing a blue dress, sitting in the grass.

The little girl is as red-haired as her father.

“It was such a privilege to celebrate Lilibet's first birthday with my family and hers.

Joy and paint all over the faces,” commented Misan Harriman.

An outpouring of generosity

On the second snapshot published, in black and white, we see Archie's little sister in the arms of the Duchess of Sussex alongside the wife of Misan Harriman and two other girls.

According to British media, the guests enjoyed during the event a pastry signed Claire Ptak, who had made the Sussex wedding cake.

The Sussex couple were "incredibly touched by the countless birthday messages for their daughter", according to their spokesperson, journalist Omid Scobie reported.

Lilibet's parents were also "stunned" to learn that the World Central Kitchen association - an organization distributing meals to people weakened by humanitarian and climate crises - had received more than 100,000 dollars (93,000 euros) in donations in l honor of their granddaughter.

Unlike her brother, Lilibet was born in Santa Barbara, California.

She was named in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, and bears the middle name of Prince Harry's mother, Diana, who died in 1997. Elizabeth II's great-granddaughter, who appears in eighth position in the he order of succession to the British throne, met the Queen for the first time this weekend.
