A "tidal flat experience" was held in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture, where children play with mud on the tidal flats of the Ariake Sea.

A total of 30 first and second graders from Nanaura Elementary School in Kashima City experienced the tidal flats.

Children gather at the tidal flat exchange hall in Kashima City, put on two layers of socks to prevent injury, and then step into the tidal flats, like mudhoppers, on all fours and throwing mud at each other. I enjoyed playing in the mud.

Some children were new to playing on the tidal flats, and at first they seemed confused, but gradually they got used to it and enjoyed the feeling of mud while cheering, saying, "I found a crab."

On the coastal embankment, we saw parents taking pictures of children playing.

The first grade girl said, "The lagoon was sticky, but it felt good. I enjoyed walking around the lagoon."

At Nanaura Elementary School, an athletic meet on the tidal flats is held every year at this time, and it is scheduled to be held on the 25th of this month.
