: Isolation makes me cherish the stage more

On the evening of June 6, the concert "Heroes: Lv Jia and the National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra Performing Beethoven" became the first external ticketed performance of the National Centre for the Performing Arts since the resumption of work.

A reporter from Beijing Youth Daily learned that the show was sold out at the box office 12 hours after the ticket was issued.

According to the requirements of Beijing's epidemic prevention and control work, the National Centre for the Performing Arts will be closed from April 26.

For more than a month, musicians have been looking forward to the day they will return to the stage.

For this concert with the theme of "heroic spirit", the artists have been planning and preparing since mid-May.

Isolation makes him cherish the stage

"Performers' desire for the stage is an instinct. The stage is too important for us." At the end of May, when receiving the task of performing Beethoven's works, Ma Weijia, assistant principal of the NCPA Orchestra, was extremely excited.

During the epidemic, he and a confirmed case went to the same snack bar. Although they were separated by two hours, Ma Wei's family became a "spatial connection" and had a quarantine experience. It was such a special experience that made him feel this way. The return to the stage is particularly cherished.

On June 1, when the Ma Wei family returned to the familiar rehearsal hall again and started the first day of rehearsal, he felt like coming home, extremely cordial and practical.

"Actually, everyone was not sure whether they could act or not, but it was very exciting to be able to rehearse with the family and prepare for the restart."

Restarting the show and playing Beethoven's works was something Ma Weijia had long expected, "Beethoven experienced deafness, which was a great blow to the musician. After his life went through hardships, he still did not succumb to this hardship. , and still be able to write something greater, that's the tension of life. I think his music is the best fit for where we are right now. So I guess this reboot will definitely be Beethoven."

  The challenge of "heroism"

Putting Beethoven's two most heroic works "Symphony No. 5 in C minor" and "Symphony No. 3 in E flat major "Hero" in the same concert, even for a long time It's also a lot of pressure for tried-and-true performers.

There has been no rehearsal for nearly 40 days. Although everyone insists on practicing the piano at home, the cooperation between the companions is inevitably unfamiliar, especially in the face of such tome works as "Bei Wu" and "Bei San".

"Beethoven's works are endless in rehearsal. The two pieces 'Bei 5' and 'Bei 3' are a huge challenge to the musician's physical strength, energy and musical accomplishment. Even the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic There is no time when famous ensembles such as music go on stage directly without rehearsal." Ma Weijia said that in order to better present the essence of Beethoven's works, the musicians of the National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra spent four days rehearsing one day. Polished little by little.

In order to keep improving, on the afternoon of the performance, Ma Weijia and his colleagues came to the performance site early to walk on the stage and played it completely.

"This time we have prepared very well. This concert, everyone has full enthusiasm for the performance."

  the power of music

On June 5, "Heroic Spirit" first performed an internal performance, and it was also broadcast live on the Internet.

On the night of the performance, when they saw the audience under the stage, Ma Wei's family and colleagues, who had spent an afternoon walking on the stage and were slightly tired, immediately regained their energy, and everyone was gearing up to show their talents.

"Whether it is the honor of the orchestra, the attitude towards the music, or the feedback from the audience, we are all under a lot of pressure, but this pressure really turned into motivation at yesterday's concert. We were very nervous, but also I'm very excited because the repertoire is fantastic, and it reflects the professionalism and height of the Grand Theatre. We want to give back to the audience who love us in the best possible way."

The professionalism and dedication of the performers were perceived by the audience, and the praise poured into the live broadcast room. The Ma Wei family was very pleased, "Opportunities are reserved for those who are prepared. Whether a person has tension or not can only be achieved in times of adversity. See. I think we exemplified that well, and I'm pretty proud of our band."

After the NCPA announced the resumption of offline performances on June 5, on the evening of June 6, the concert "Heroes: Lv Jia and the NCPA Orchestra Performing Beethoven" continued to be played in the NCPA Concert Hall. The concert sold out within 12 hours of ticketing.

"This is the power of music." Upon hearing the news, the Ma Wei family smiled happily.
