Every day, a French person loses on average between 30 and 50 hairs.

A figure that can even double depending on the case.

To fight against hair loss, dermatologist Philippe Abimelec gives several tips in "Benefit for you" on Europe 1, based on the case of Maëlle Desard, victim of alopecia since puberty.

It's a phenomenon that affects everyone: hair loss.

Immediately, this is equated to men with baldness, but women are also affected.

According to doctor Philippe Abimelec, dermatologist expert in hair and nails, a person loses "between 30 and 50 hairs a day", as he explains in

Bienfait pour vous

on Europe 1. A figure which, according to this specialist, "can double during the change of seasons"

"I took a long time to accept"

But for others, this hair loss is the result of an illness.

Maëlle Desard, writer and author of the book

A un cheveu

, has suffered from androgenetic alopecia since the age of 14.

On Europe 1, she claims "to have lost a lot of hair at puberty" and says that over the weeks, her hair began to "refine".

Philippe Abimelec explains this rare disease by "an abnormal sensitivity of the hair bulbs to male hormones".

In recent weeks, alopecia has again become a topic in the news with the Will Smith case at the Oscars, because the wife of the American actor, Jada, suffers from alopecia.

For Maëlle Desard, this scene shows how much this subject is still "taboo among women. To take my personal case, I hid it for a very long time", she explains.

"First, I slapped my hair to hide the holes, then I put pins in to make sure we couldn't see my skull. Finally, I decided to wear the scarf, before opting for the wig “, she says, adding that it “took him a long time to come to terms with his hair loss”.

“There is always a treatment”

But this disease, like all hair loss except that which occurs after pregnancy, can be treated according to the dermatologist.

"In the case of androgenetic alopecia, there are treatments for both women and men," he explains.

"In women and men, minoxidil (a drug) is the base. We can add that in women, when there is a clear hormonal abnormality, hormonal treatment is useful", adds- he.

The hair supplement solution

Philippe Albemic also advises hair supplements, which in his eyes are "very useful, especially for patients who no longer have hair".

On the other hand, he advises against all the treatments found in drugstores, which are, according to him, "perlimpinpin powder".
