Elon Musk accuses Twitter of withholding information and threatens to withdraw the purchase deal

Elon Musk confirmed in a document presented to the US Stock Exchange on Monday that Twitter is actively resisting his requests for information about bots and spam, which he sees as a clear violation of the social network's obligations under the takeover offer.

"Musk reserves all rights, including his right not to complete the transaction and his right to terminate the merger agreement," said a letter addressed to Twitter's legal officer and published on the SEC's website.

And the US Securities and Exchange Commission revealed late last month that it had asked Elon Musk to provide clarification about the reasons for his delay in reporting his purchase of millions of shares on Twitter, in the latest questions related to his turbulent attempt to buy the platform.

Musk became a major shareholder in Twitter after buying 73.5 million shares in early April, and after about two weeks he made an offer to acquire the platform.

This was followed by his signing of a $44 billion deal to buy the San Francisco-based company, but he has since given mixed signals about his commitment to the deal.

Musk's behavior prompted American human rights NGOs to join forces to try to prevent the billionaire's purchase of Twitter, fearing that it would allow hate and violence content to be posted on the platform.
