In Sudan, General Abdel Fattah Al-Bourhane announced on Sunday May 31 the lifting of the state of emergency, seven months after his coup.

But the anti-coup demonstrators keep up the pressure.

They called for people to take to the streets this Friday to commemorate the anniversary of the bloody crackdown of June 3, 2019. On that day, a sit-in was violently suppressed by security forces, causing the death of at least 130 people and causing hundreds of injuries.

Where is the country today three years later?

Can the lifting of the state of emergency allow dialogue between civilians and soldiers?

Or is the blockage complete?

Roland Marchal, CNRS researcher, based at Sciences Po Paris answers Pierre Firtion's questions.
