After months of investigations into false corona certificates, investigators have taken a doctor from Leverkusen into custody.
The 52-year-old was arrested on Friday, said the police and the Cologne public prosecutor.
There had previously been indications that the man wanted to go abroad.
The investigators accuse the doctor of having issued certificates in numerous cases without prior examination, according to which patients should not receive a corona vaccination for medical reasons.
Up to 3000 possible cases
In 66 cases there is now an urgent suspicion against the doctor.
But the dimension could be far larger, the investigators said.
A total of around 3,000 cases of allegedly false certificates against the 52-year-old are being investigated.
