Seine-Saint-Denis is currently facing a lack of midwives in the public hospital.

In total, 150 additional caregivers would be needed to meet the needs in the department, reports France Bleu Paris.

This lack of personnel has very concrete consequences.

Patients about to give birth have already had to be transferred at the last moment to another maternity ward in order to be able to give birth to their child.

Ditto for pregnancy monitoring, which is often postponed or moved to another hospital.

A study allowance contract to recruit young people

As for the midwives, the workload is consequently heavier and their activity is mainly concentrated around the delivery room.

Many believe that a financial increase is necessary to allow the hiring of new midwives in Seine-Saint-Denis.

In Bondy, a maternity hospital has decided to offer a study allowance contract (CAE) to students.

In exchange for a commitment to work for several years within the establishment, the hospital pays them during their last years of training.
