A lizard-shaped robot developed by a research institute in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, was donated to a local medical institution so that it could be used to care for the hearts of people who had evacuated from Ukraine to Poland due to a military invasion by Russia.

To support the evacuees in Ukraine, a robot with the image of a baby seal was given to Poland, the "Paro" developed at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Tsukuba.

On the morning of the 1st of local time, two bodies were presented to the "Masovian Voivodeological Center" and the "Warsaw Medical University Medical Center" through the Japanese Embassy in Poland.

"Paro" was developed for the purpose of giving people spiritual action such as fun and comfort, and when they call out or stroke their bodies, they make a cry and move their eyelids and head, which are real creatures. It reacts like this.

It is recognized as a medical device in Europe, and the medical institution that received the gift will be used for treatment such as reducing the stress of evacuation life and improving sleeplessness of people who have evacuated from Ukraine to Poland.

Takanori Shibata, Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, who developed Paro, said, "We have a track record of using it to care for the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Kumamoto Earthquake in Japan. I'm happy. "
