The Miyazaki Prefectural Board of Education has decided to review the "silent meals" that are thoroughly eaten in elementary and junior high schools.

The background is that as the easing of action requests from adults progressed, there was a voice saying, "I think it is too strict only for children."

The Miyazaki Prefectural Board of Education is currently requesting "thorough silence" in notifications to prefectural schools, and the boards of education of the municipalities that have jurisdiction over elementary and junior high schools are taking similar measures.

When I interviewed a 6th grade class at an elementary school in Miyazaki City on the 1st, all of them stayed facing forward and ate lunch, and only the sound of moving chopsticks echoed.

On the 3rd, Miyazaki Prefecture is expected to announce a reduction in the alert level for the new coronavirus, and the prefectural board of education has issued a new notice in line with this, and has decided to delete the word "thoroughness of silent meals".

In the world of "adults", as requests for action at eating and drinking places are being relaxed one after another, there is also a voice saying "I think it is too strict only for children."

However, our policy is to continue to seek measures such as not facing each other during meals and refraining from loud conversations.

Depending on the response of each school that received the new notification, there are likely to be signs of change in the "silent meals" of school meals that have continued for two years since the beginning of the Korona-ka.
