You'd think that for Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee, all royalty would dress up in their 31s. Well, yes and no.

Certainly the outfits are not within the reach of all budgets, but the Duchesses of Cornwall and Cambridge have decided to bring up to date dresses that they had already worn at previous events.

So Prince Charles' wife, Camilla, pulled out of the closet her blue striped Bruce Oldfield ensemble and the Philip Treacy hat that goes with it.

The Duchess of Cornwall wore this outfit a year ago to the very posh royal race at Ascot.

Master in the matter

Kate Middleton, for her part, has had the habit, since her marriage to Prince William, of wearing her clothes several times when she is performing.

And this time again, she went against the etiquette that you don't wear the same outfit twice for a big event.

She therefore wore a white Alexander McQueen blazer dress matched to her navy and white Philip Treacy hat, an outfit she had already worn last year for the reception of the G7 leaders.

The Duchess of Cambridge and her husband also seem to have made a nod to the past.

Their youngest son, Louis, wore a sailor top, similar to the one Prince William wore in 1985 for his first Trooping the Colour!
