The Hebei Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau reported on June 2 that two yellow-breasted buntings were found in the Changli Gold Coast National Nature Reserve Management Center in Hebei Province.
The IUCN upgraded the yellow-breasted bunting from "endangered" to "critically endangered" in 2017.
In 2021, China will upgrade the yellow-breasted bunting to a national first-level key protected wild animal.
According to reports, the yellow-breasted bunting has only a small number of records in the coastal areas of China during the migration period of spring and autumn every year.
