The project has been in the works for more than five years.

This Saturday, the Mediterranean villa, yesterday a large unused building at the foot of the Mucem in Marseille, will officially become the setting for the reconstruction of the Cosquer cave.

This 23 million euro project was designed by Kléber Rossillon, already known for his work on the Chauvet cave, and financed to the tune of 9 million euros by the Paca region.

It aims to reproduce identically this prehistoric cave discovered in 1985 by the Cassis diver Henri Cosquer, whose 500 cave paintings are doomed to disappear due to the rising waters.
