Relevant earthquake monitoring stations have strengthened the monitoring of the earthquake situation in the earthquake area. Today, 2 seismic flow observation groups have been dispatched, and 3 cross-fault deformation observation groups will be dispatched tomorrow to implement encrypted observations and provide scientific data for earthquake situation research and judgment.

According to a comprehensive analysis by experts, the Lushan M6.1 earthquake belongs to the aftershocks of the "4.20" M7.0 earthquake in 2013. The two earthquakes are 9 kilometers apart, and the seismic fault is the Shuangshi-Dachuan fault zone.
As of 7 o'clock today (night), a total of 1 aftershock of magnitude 3.0 (and above) has been recorded in the earthquake area, that is, an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 that occurred at 5:03 (this afternoon).

The Ya'an Earthquake Relief Headquarters dispatched more than 800 city-level reinforcements including emergency rescue, armed police, firefighting, medical, public security, and militia, and rushed to the earthquake-stricken area to carry out personnel search and rescue, treatment of the wounded, road salvage, and public transfer and resettlement. .

The focal mechanism and type of the earthquake were thrust type. The M6.1 Lushan earthquake occurred at the eastern boundary of the Bayan Har block, and the seismic activity was still relatively strong in history.
Since 1900, there have been 21 earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.0 or above within 200 kilometers of the epicenter. The largest earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 in Wenchuan, Sichuan, on May 12, 2008, is about 83 kilometers away from the Wenchuan earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0.
Since 1900, the earthquake sequences of magnitude 6 and above within 200 kilometers of the epicenter are mainly isolated and main-after-type earthquakes.
Experts have comprehensively judged that it is unlikely that a larger earthquake will occur in the original earthquake area in recent days.
