Louis Aliot, the mayor of Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), unveiled on Tuesday a new device which arrives in the city: Vigilant traders.

Like Vigilant Neighbours, this tool aims to create an “internal and digital community” between all merchants.

The goal?

Combat everyday incivilities by reporting them quickly and warning neighboring traders, explains

How it works ?

Traders make a report on a mobile application, which generates the sending of an alert message to other registered traders but also to the municipal police.

The aim is to promote arrests in order to be able to fight against the petty and medium crime with which they are confronted: shoplifting, false bank cards, fraudulent checks, vandalism, robbery, aggression, etc.

Currently in the test phase, Merchants Vigilant is currently only intended for merchants in the city center of Perpignan.

Depending on its success, the device could then be offered to all the merchants of the city.
