The reporter learned from the Guangdong Provincial Forestry Bureau on May 31 that Guangdong has scientifically implemented wetland ecological restoration in recent years. By the end of 2021, the total area of wetlands in the province will be 2.684 million mu; during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Guangdong will complete the restoration of mangrove forests 12 million acres.
According to the Guangdong Forestry Bureau, Guangdong is one of the provinces with the most abundant wetland types in the country, among which mangrove wetlands play an important role.
Guangdong currently has 159,600 mu of mangroves, making it the province with the largest distribution of mangroves in China.

In recent years, the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government have conscientiously implemented the major strategic deployment of the state on the construction of ecological civilization, practiced the concept of green development, and took the opportunity of a new round of greening Guangdong, the construction of a green ecological water network and the full implementation of the forest chief system. , vigorously promote wetland protection and restoration.
By the end of 2021, the province has 4 wetlands of international importance, 2 wetlands of national importance, 13 important wetlands in Guangdong Province, and 27 national wetland parks. A number of wetland protection projects have been implemented in important wetland areas.
In order to make mangroves into another beautiful business card that will impress the world, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Natural Resources and the Provincial Forestry Bureau jointly issued the "Guangdong Provincial Mangrove Protection and Restoration Special Action Plan Implementation Plan", which clearly stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period 120,000 mu of mangroves have been built and restored, and the area of mangroves to be built and restored ranks first among the coastal provinces.
It is reported that the province implemented a total of 3,232 mu of mangrove construction area and 810 mu of restoration area last year.

In the next few years, Guangdong Province will implement the overall protection of mangroves. The mangrove-related nature reserves distributed in 13 coastal cities and the existing mangroves outside the nature reserves will all be included in the ecological protection red line, and strict protection will be implemented. .
The relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Forestry Bureau said that Guangdong actively promotes the development and construction of wetland parks in various places as a powerful starting point for the construction of ecological civilization, as an important measure to improve the ecology and people's livelihood.
In the near future, it will organize the identification and release of a batch of important provincial wetlands again, and accelerate the promotion of wetland classification management and wetland park construction.
At present, Guangdong has recommended Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park and Shenzhen Futian Mangrove Wetland to the State Forestry and Grassland Administration for declaration of international important wetlands, and instructs Zhuhai Qi'ao-Dangan Island Provincial Nature Reserve to declare national important wetlands.
