In Greece, the first days of June coincide with the start of the high tourist season.

A summer season marked, this year, by a surge in inflation across Europe.

A surge in prices generated by the combined effect of the brutal economic recovery that followed the Covid pandemic, then the war in Ukraine.

In April, due to soaring energy costs – electricity, gas and oil – the rise in prices thus exceeded on average, in Greece, the symbolic threshold of 10% over one year.

A first in nearly 30 years.

An increase that also impacts the tourism sector, a pillar of the country's economy.
