Six years ago, Tarik Saleh's "The Nile Hilton incident" was presented with five golden beetles, but for its script it did not receive a prize.

That changed in France on Saturday when the director's "Boy from heaven" was awarded the prize for best screenplay.

- That was the script I was most proud of with that film, says Tarik Saleh to Kulturnyheterna.

"Directing is not fun"

And that it became the price it became, says Tarik Saleh, means extra much because he does not like directing.

- It is an understatement, I hate to direct to say it clearly, he says and continues:

- I love editing films, and I think it's very fun to write scripts.

So for me, it was great to get this confirmation.

"Must support the family"

The reason that Saleh does not give up directing and only focuses on writing, he says, is a financial issue, and that there is most money in working with directing.

- I have two children and have to support a family and it is directing you get paid for, it is a profession with high status, you could say.

But the job itself is damn good.

In the clip above, you can hear more of Tarik Saleh's views on directing film.
