Due to a large-scale water leak at an intake facility in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, water supply for agriculture in eight cities was stopped, and on the 30th, water supply was resumed for the first time in about two weeks, limiting the area.

Due to a large-scale leak that occurred at an intake facility on the Yahagi River in Toyota City, water supply to the Meiji irrigation water for approximately 4,500 hectares of agricultural land in eight cities was stopped from 17th this month.

In the land improvement area that manages the irrigation water, a certain amount of water intake can be secured by the installed pump, and as a result of the test water supply conducted from the 25th, it was confirmed that the water was distributed, and the water supply was supplied for the first time in about two weeks. It has resumed.

Since the amount of water intake is limited, we have decided to divide the water supply area into four areas and supply water only on a daily basis. In principle, water comes only once every four days in each paddy field. Therefore, the land improvement district continues to call for measures to prevent the drainage of paddy fields as much as possible.

Satoshi Kamiya, a farmer in Anjo City who was supplied with water on the 30th, said, "I'm glad I was swayed because the water did not come out during the trial water supply."

In addition, Yutaka Iwatsuki, the secretary general of the Meiji Water and Land Improvement Zone, said, "I didn't know when the water would come next at the time of the test water supply, but I think it will be easier to schedule agricultural work from now on."
