On May 27, local time, the annual meeting of the National Rifle Association was held in Houston, Texas as usual.

Due to the May 24 mass shooting at Rob Elementary School in Texas that killed 21 people, a large number of protesters gathered outside this year's meeting, calling for gun control.

They held signs that read "Stop the Killing" and "Save Our Children"

Several politicians, including former US President Trump, spoke at the conference.

Trump cited a series of proposals to improve school safety, including allowing teachers to carry guns and approving funding to enhance school safety.

But he does not support any gun control.

Trump slammed the $40 billion Ukrainian aid bill recently passed by Congress, "If there is $40 billion that can be sent to Ukraine, we should do everything we can to ensure that our children are safe in our own country."

The National Rifle Association's official website shows that its 151st annual meeting will be held in Houston from May 27 to 29.

And "will showcase the latest firearms and equipment from the industry's most popular companies on a 14-acre (57,000-square-meter) venue," as well as "entertainment programs and special events."

The official website profile calls the annual meeting a "celebration of liberty, guns and the Second Amendment to the Constitution."
