Queen Elizabeth II will not receive the military salute during the Trooping the Color on June 2, which is to mark her platinum jubilee, or 70 years of reign.

According to internal sources interviewed by the

Sunday Times

, the sovereign preferred to leave it to Princes Charles and William as well as Princess Anne to represent her.

However, the organization should be arranged to allow her to attend part of the event and she should appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with the rest of the royal family for the end of the ceremony.

This partial absence will mark a first in 70 years of reign, while Trooping the Color has only been canceled once, in 1955, due to a railway strike.

Save your strength

In recent weeks, Elizabeth II has had no choice but to withdraw from several public appearances due to mobility problems.

However, the queen still went to the inauguration of a new London underground line called the Elizabeth Line, to the Windsor Horse Show, as well as to the celebrations of her platinum jubilee in Windsor.

The monarch notably caused a sensation by attending her favorite flower festival aboard a… golf cart!
