Are you apprehensive of traffic jams during this Ascension weekend between Paris and Normandy, of stopping (for a long time) at the tolls on the A14 and A13, whose traffic jams are sometimes legendary?

There may be a light at the end of the tunnel!

The motorway company, Sanef, had already made motorists dream, in December.

Le Parisien

takes stock of the project this Thursday.

In 2024, vehicles connecting Paris to Normandy will be able to pass without stopping at the toll, because they will be detected by sensors on gates.

Motorists' accounts will be automatically debited if they subscribe to electronic toll.

If they are not, they can either register their license plate on the Sanef website or application, or pay after their visit (on the dealer's website or in a tobacco shop, no later than 48 hours after the trip).

“We will save a total of 1.8 million hours per year for our users”

In a video, Sanef presents this project – which is part of the mobility orientation law (LOM) – over the 210 kilometers between the capital and Caen (Calvados):

Up to 120,000 vehicles use the Normandy motorway every day.

According to the director of Sanef, Arnaud Quemard, interviewed by

Le Parisien

, “we are going to save a total of 1.8 million hours per year for our users with the removal of traffic jams”.

These optimistic forecasts will also improve the carbon footprint of highways, because, according to him, 9.5 million liters of fuel could be saved.

If you're going to escape the note on your ride, though, better forget about it.

The ticket for non-payment of the toll promises to be steep.

A fine not paid after two months?

375 euros.

The slate can go up to 7,500 euros in the event of recidivism and non-payment over a year.
