So that we approach the rules without embarrassment.

On the occasion of May 28, International Day of Menstrual Hygiene, the association Rules Elementary launches its Sang Gêne festival, from Friday to Sunday, in Paris, at the Pavillon des Canaux (19th) and Chez Mona at the Cité Audacieuse ( 6th).

The rules will be discussed in various forms: workshop, debate, short films, etc.

The association Rules Elementary at the origin of the festival, fights since 2015 against menstrual precariousness.

For its director, Maud Lebon, the devices for the free distribution of periodic protection are not sufficient: "Today, products related to intimate hygiene are distributed only on campuses", she declares and to encourage the public authorities to generalize their distribution in universities, public transport, all places accessible to populations in need.

1.7 million women cannot afford sanitary pads

La Fage, federation of general student associations, revealed in March 2021 that between 1.7 and 2 million women did not have the means to regularly obtain periodic protection.

And out of more than 6,500 students surveyed, 13% said they had already had to make a choice between buying sanitary protection or another basic necessity.

In addition, the lack of public debate around menstruation-related diseases, such as endometriosis, the fact that one in ten women of childbearing age is affected, requires real reflection.

The Sang Gêne festival is strong to launch it.
