A video of a nurse's dragging ignites a wave of anger in Saudi Arabia

A video clip circulated in the last hours in Saudi Arabia sparked great anger in the country and shows an attack by a person on a nurse inside a health facility.

In the 6-second video, a person drags a nurse for several meters on the hospital grounds.

And the hashtag “#A citizen_attacked_a_Saudi_nurse” was issued on Twitter after the spread of the video, as tweeters demanded the most severe penalties for the perpetrator.

Saudis shared tweets indicating that assaulting a health practitioner, verbally or physically, is a crime punishable by 10 years in prison and a fine of one million riyals.

Immediately after the hashtag spread, the Asir region police announced the arrest of the citizen who appeared in the video, as he beat the nurse, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

She said that the incident took place in a hospital in Al-Majardah Governorate in the far west of Saudi Arabia.

Asir Police confirmed that the offender was arrested and that legal measures were taken against him, and that he was referred to the Public Prosecution.

The police did not reveal additional details explaining the reason behind the attack on the nurse.
