News from this newspaper (Reporter Sun Qiru) I thought it was a "surprise" for the salary subsidy that the company issued to everyone, but it turned out to be a "scare" that took away the balance of the employee's salary card.

Recently, more than 20 employees of Sohu Company encountered such an online fraud.

According to the content of the online transmission, all Sohu employees received an email from the "Sohu Finance Department" entitled "Notice of Employee Wage Subsidy in May" on the morning of May 18. A large number of employees scanned the code according to the requirements of the attachment and filled in the bank account number. After waiting for the information, not only did not wait for the so-called subsidy, but the balance in the salary card was also taken away.

Later, an internal Sohu employee confirmed to the media that they did receive such an email, but the number and amount of deceived people were not as large as rumored on the Internet.

Sohu later issued a statement stating that the incident was actually an employee who was accidentally “phished” when using emails, resulting in a password leak, and then posing as the finance department to steal emails.

According to statistics, a total of 24 employees were defrauded of more than 40,000 yuan, and they are currently waiting for the police's investigation and results.

Pei Zhiyong, director of Qi'anxin Industry Security Research Center, reminded that the hidden dangers of "phishing" email attacks that cause such scams are widespread, and enterprises and citizens should strengthen their security awareness.

The public security department also reminds the employees of the unit that once they receive an email such as "payment of wage subsidy", they should verify it in person with the financial department of the unit as soon as possible, and recommend downloading the APP of the National Anti-Fraud Center.
