Recently, NASA said that an asteroid will pass by the Earth on Friday, May 27, with a diameter of about 1.77 kilometers.

If the buildings on Earth are used as a reference, the asteroid is twice the size of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.

Asteroid 7335 (1989 JA) will be the largest small space rock to approach Earth this year, according to NASA.

While the likelihood of the asteroid hitting Earth is extremely low, NASA has not ruled out an asteroid collision in the near future.

NASA says it discovers about 30 new "near-Earth objects" (NEOs) every week, and as of early 2019, more than 19,000 such objects have been discovered.
