In a new evening of "Libraries Talk", the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in cooperation with the Emirates Writers Union - Dubai Branch, hosts Emirati writer and researcher Abdullah Abdul Rahman Rahma Al Hammadi, in a discussion session at Al Safa Art and Design Library.

This session will be held on the second of next June, under the title "The Emirates in the Memory of Its Children", and moderated by the writer and media person Safia Al-Shehhi.

During the session, researcher Abdullah Abdul Rahman will take the audience on a journey through the corridors of his important and inspiring experience in collecting and documenting oral heritage and popular culture in the Emirates through direct dialogues with the aging narrators of its children, with the aim of preserving the experiences of grandparents and parents and transferring them to the new generations, shedding light on the challenges that he faced in his long career.

The session will also deal with Al Hammadi’s book “A cup of coffee.. The Emirates is in the memory of its children”, which is an important reference in its three parts, in which the researcher monitors historical and heritage stories and novels that delve into the details of life in the Emirates in an early period of the state’s life, through dialogues with senior men and women Citizens who lived in different parts of the country.

Abdullah Abdul Rahman is considered one of the first to monitor, collect and document the oral heritage and Emirati popular culture, and has made many outputs in the world of literature, writing, research and documentation over the past 40 years, and won dozens of awards.

This session comes as part of a long-term cooperation between Dubai Public Libraries and the Emirates Writers Union that aims to enrich the cultural and knowledge arena in the emirate about the flags of Emirati literature, through a series of discussion sessions that are held every two weeks until the end of this year.
