As energy prices soar and there are concerns about the tightness of electricity this summer and winter, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has put together measures to support the promotion of power saving and the energy saving of small and medium-sized enterprises.

On the 24th, Governor Koike and executives attended the "Energy Countermeasures Headquarters Meeting".

At the meeting, it was explained that the price of energy and raw materials soared due to the influence of the situation in Ukraine, and there are concerns about the tightness of electricity this summer and winter.

Then, in order to deal with this situation, we decided to work on securing stable energy as a capital and supporting businesses suffering from soaring prices of raw materials.

Specifically, in order to promote cooperation for power saving, in addition to assisting retailers of electricity to create a system that gives points to households that respond to power saving, the cost of introducing equipment that leads to energy saving by small and medium-sized enterprises. It means that we will provide support such as partial subsidies.

These support measures will be included in the supplementary budget proposal to be submitted to the regular meeting of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly next month.

Governor Koike says, "It is important to take measures with the idea that we will turn a pinch into an opportunity in response to the crisis we face."
