South Africa has for years been at the top of the most unequal countries in the world, according to the regular rankings of the World Bank.

The country does not lack wealth, however, but nearly 30 years after the end of apartheid, more than 80% of it is held by 10% of the population... A sword of Damocles hangs over the country, so that the gap has widened further with the Covid pandemic.

Cape Town, 4.5 million inhabitants, is one of the examples of the persistence of these gigantic inequalities.
