This weekend, Courtney Love's support for Johnny Depp went viral.

A friend of the Hole singer posted on her Instagram account, in Story, a video of the star explaining that the

Pirates of the Caribbean

actor had saved her life in 1995, when she overdosed at the Viper Room, which belonged to the interpreter of Jack Sparrow.

She also explains that when she relapsed into her addictions, Johnny Depp was there for her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.

Only here, Courtney Love today regrets that this speech was published without filter, "following a misunderstanding in a private message", and for good reason.

“I want to show neutral support to a friend.

I don't want to harass.

I've been harassed enough myself.

(…) In no way do I want to contribute to more online harassment towards someone who is currently experiencing it like no one has ever before.

Never,” the grunge singer says on Instagram.

Mea culpa

“In my addiction recovery program, it says that when you've been wrong, you have to admit it immediately.

I was wrong.

The only takeaway from what was posted is that I said we should all stop gloating over other people's misfortune and genuinely show empathy for both parties.

If I hurt someone, that person accepts my apologies,” she added.

Since the start of the defamation lawsuit brought by Johnny Depp against Amber Heard, the star of

Aquaman

has been the target of internet users, including celebrities, like Lance Bass, who deride his testimony.

As a reminder, the actress detailed at the bar having been the victim of acts of extreme violence which she attributes to Johnny Depp until their divorce.

The actor of

Ed Wood

, for his part, testified to having suffered recurrent and cruel physical and psychological violence from his ex-wife.

The trial resumes today and is expected to end on May 27.
