On May 22, 2021, Academician Yuan Longping passed away at the age of 91.
At the age of 90, he is still running towards two dreams: the dream of enjoying the shade under the grass and the dream of hybrid rice covering the world.
He really had such a dream.
In the dream, the rice grows as high as sorghum, the ears are as long as a broom, and the grains are as big as peanuts. Yuan Longping and his assistants sit under the ears of rice to enjoy the shade.
"Actually, the essence of my dream is the dream of high rice yield, so that people can eat more rice and never have to go hungry again."
He believed that these dreams were not just dreams.
