As the number of traditional Japanese umbrella craftsmen who are indispensable for the Kabuki stage is decreasing, the Kabuki actor Ukon Onoe designed a design to support the development of successors. It was put up for auction.

Japanese umbrellas, which are important as Kabuki props, are made using traditional Japanese techniques, but the shortage of successors to craftsmen is becoming more serious.

For this reason, a company that handles Kabuki props plans to put up an auction to support the development of Japanese umbrella craftsmen, and Ukon Onoe has the same two umbrellas that are used on the stage. I designed each character and drew it myself.

Mr. Ukon plays Benten Kozo in "Benten Musume Otoko Shironami", which is being performed at Kabukiza Theater in Tokyo, and the appearance of holding an umbrella is a showcase.

Mr. Ukon's umbrella that was put up is currently on display at Kabuki-za, and the sales of the auction will be donated to a project to train Japanese umbrella craftsmen.

Mr. Ukon said, "Kabuki is the crystallization of the techniques of various craftsmen, and I wondered if there was something I could do to connect the batons and deliver them to customers. I want you to participate in the auction and get excited. "

This auction is open until the 27th of this month.
