And the Iraqi Ministry of Health said in a book addressed to the provinces, and published by the Iraqi News Agency, that “rabies is a viral disease transmitted through the bites of loose dogs, and as it is known about the disease that the death rate may reach 100 percent, in the event that the necessary measures are not taken for the bitten ones. ".


She added: "Given the clear increase in the registration of rabies infections and those exposed to animal bites in the governorates, due to the large number of stray dogs these days and worryingly in residential areas, around and within health institutions, universities, schools, ministries, departments and places of worship, in addition to what we receive through the media and communication media. In order to limit the spread of disease and to ensure the safety of citizens, campaigns must be carried out to exterminate stray dogs, which is the responsibility of the governorates.


The Iraqi citizen, Reber Taher, told "Sky News Arabia", "The situation has become intolerable, as stray dogs occupy roads, alleys and alleys, and we are afraid to go out for walks, especially in the late evening hours due to the large presence of these dogs, and this is an indication that the problem has become We need a quick and urgent government intervention, otherwise the tragedy will grow."

He added: "Children in particular are in danger, whether while they go to schools or while they gather for fun and play in the parks and squares near their homes. Hardly a few days pass without incidents of biting and attacking pedestrians and pedestrians by these stray dogs, where I sometimes see more than 10 dogs huddled in one side street.
