The WHO = World Health Organization has revealed that there were reports of about 80 patients from 11 countries regarding the infectious disease "monkeypox", which has been confirmed one after another mainly in Europe and the United States.

Experts say the number of reports is expected to increase in the future, but it is unlikely that it will spread significantly, and a calm response is required.

"Monkeypox" is a viral infection mainly found in Africa, which causes symptoms such as fever and a characteristic rash on the face and body.

In May, cases were confirmed one after another mainly in Europe and the United States such as the United Kingdom and the United States, and WHO revealed that there were reports of about 80 cases from 11 countries so far.

In addition, new cases were confirmed in Germany and the Netherlands on the 20th, and the WHO European Regional Secretariat said, "There is concern about the spread of the infection before the summer when a large number of people gather and parties are held." Although most of the confirmed patients remain mild, infants and pregnant women are wary of the fact that they may become severe.

Amesh Adalja, senior researcher at the Johns Hopkins University Health and Safety Center, who is familiar with infectious diseases, said that "more patients will be reported in the United States and Canada," and more reports are expected in the future.

On the other hand, he said, "It is wrong to think in the same way as the new coronavirus. The ability to spread the infection is weak and will not be a big spread," he emphasized that a calm response is necessary.
