Differentiated traffic can now be implemented in the Vaucluse in the event of a persistent air pollution episode.

This was announced by the prefect of Vaucluse on Tuesday in coordination with those of Bouches-du-Rhône and Gard.

The system may concern 20 municipalities in the three departments.

In the Vaucluse, the prefect will have the power to take this measure after consulting the “comité d'exp'air”.

The scope will be defined by the communities.

Exceptions

The portions of the A7 and A9 motorways crossing the area will not be affected, as will the axes which lead to a park and ride for access to public transport.

The Crit'Air vignette will be compulsory in the event of an outbreak.

Light vehicles with Crit'Air 4, 5 and unclassified as well as heavy goods vehicles with Crit'Air 3, 4, 5 and unclassified will no longer be able to circulate.

Vehicles of general interest, vehicles providing carpooling or agricultural vehicles will be exempted.
